funny money

I just took delivery of alot of Japanese yen in time for our holiday. It’s a bit scary because there’s 10,000 yen notes which seem alot to me but are worth £42 (at time of writing).

I found the best deal for ordering foreign money through this comparison site: Travel Money Maximiser. We’ve previously used to Post Office but this time we went through Travelcare which had a better exchange rate and free delivery.

hopi ear candling

I purchased some hopi ear candles off Something for the Wickend and got C to help me burn them in my ear. Ear candles are useful for the treatment of sinusitis, rhinitis, earwax, earache, tinnitus, heaches and migraines. It’s also been suggested to me that it could be good for viral labyrinthitis.

The hollow candle is placed in the ear and lit. This creates a vacuum or the “chimney effect” which increases bloodflow to the ear and draws our impurities. Of course this is contested by some people as a load of old codswollop but I happened to find the experience relaxing and I felt “cleaned out” in my ears.

This is left in the base of the candle which I thought was wax residue pulled out of my ear but further internet research says this is not so. Hmm, it’s so gross looking I like to think it is.

birthday outing

scoffscoff.jpg

We went to Chester zoo on sunday for a birthday outing. I wanted to see the red pandas mainly as I’d heard they had two new cubs born in June. Unfortnately the cubs were nowhere to be seen, not even on “nest cam” that the zoo had erected to spy on them. It made my day to see the two adult red pandas though. Here’s one having a scoff.

Oh and it’s my birthday today, I’m 29. Woo. Thanks for the cards everyone! C is making a carrot cake that I get to eat all of it because he doesn’t like it. Happy days!

now with extra poo

I was walking home from work today and a bird pooed on my head. A massive big, brown and warm plop hit my hair and ricocheted onto my coat and bag. I had to come home and shower and put the coat through the wash.

C is now feeling poorly in bed and came home from work in the morning.

I keep nosebleeding all over the place and my voice is still very husky.

still poo-rly

The dizzyness has abated but now I’m suffering with a cold. The usual sore throat/snotty nose/chestiness (I’m not discussing my bust here) has been with me the past few days. I blew my nose on Sunday and got my very first nosebleed. I got scared because it seemed like so much blood pouring out but it was probably all normal for a nosebleed. I’ve had a few more since then because I can’t stop blowing my nose!

My Mum and Dad visited us for two nights. They took us to ikea and we bought a nice new floor lamp (£9.99!) and some other cool bits and bobs. God I love ikea so many nice things for such good prices. Mum and Dad took us out for an Italian meal but sadly I couldn’t taste any of it due to blocked up nose. It was nice having Mum fussing over me being poorly and good to have my Dad about to ask his advice.

merry christmas

Now we are into the month of September it seems to be the festive season already. I received a Christmas catalogue today and in Tescos I spied a display of Christmas puddings and mince pies. It’s all too much for me, I’m going to lie down.
