jobless

Having moved to Chester I am currently jobless and looking for work. My success so far has been:

3 applications -
1 interview that I didn’t get the job for but I was happy because I didn’t want to work weekends
1 interview where I got it. I did the job for one day and didn’t like it so I never went back
1 interview which takes place tomorrow and I really want this job!

Feeling a bit useless not having a job as boyfriend is earning all the money though I’ve taken on extra cleaning and cooking duties. I’m keeping myself busy with my OU coursework too and I’ve also been studying for an ECDL (European Computer Driving License) with Learndirect.

[Update] I have been informed that they had to give the post to an existing employee because they get first priority when their job becomes obsolete within the company. So I don’t know why they had interviews at all then.

geriatric1927

A British pensioner has become the unlikely hero of a website that usually reflects the latest teenage trends.

A softly spoken 79-year-old called Peter has attracted a cult following after posting his first video on YouTube.com a week ago. In the clip, which features the widower’s “geriatric gripes and grumbles” with a blues soundtrack, he explains how he became addicted to the home video site, where 100m clips are watched every day.

Geriatric1927′s You Tube page. These video clips are really are worth watching. Peter who is internet savy records fascinating mini-films and explains his life, love of motorcycles and life during the war. He has a gentle way of speaking and I enjoy listening to his perspective on life.

When the “artiste” first thought to themselves “Hmm I’ll make a range of funny piggybanks” what made them think this ginger pig was a good design? I mean WTF!

birthday

Today is C’s birthday so I made him a big cake and a birthday card

I gave him a copy of “Is it just me or is everything shit? The Encyclopedia of Modern Life” which is really funny, here’s an extract:

Washed and ready-to-eat vegetables

A fantastic way for supermarkets to turn a bag of carrots at 45.3p per kg into a bag of scrubbed carrot batons at £2.78 per kg.
Batons? Don’t mae me laugh. You couldn’t run a relay race using anything of that size. You’d be alsmot certain to drop it during the changeover.

Mac Junkies

‘Oh, Macs are just so much better than PCs. The operating system is about 12 times faster and they’re just so much more efficient in, ooh…so many ways.’
Are they? Are they really? And how the fuck would you know, when all you use it for is copying CDs and looking at porn? What you actually mean is: ‘They look nice.’
The Mac junkie will also crap on without end about how Microsoft is a big nasty corporation. No shit? And Apple’s what then – a workers’ co-op? No, it’s a smaller nasty corporation – which uses child lanbour and beats its workers, whom it pays in beans, with sticks (possibly).
Do you know what Apple employees call company chief Steve Jobs? I’ll tell you: Big Jobs. Or Shitty Jobby Job-head. And that’s true. Okay, it’s not.
