migraine

I experienced a migraine yesterday, my first one in recent years. I used to get them quite a lot when I was a teenager but I hadn’t had one in a long while. It struck while I was at work in the shop serving people. My vision went all blurry so I couldn’t see properly. I managed to carry on though and I don’t think anyone noticed. It went after about half an hour and my vision was restored but then it left me with a killer headache. They are most unpleasant things. Some people can get them lasting three days long so I was let off quite lightly I suppose. It is said that coffee, chocolate and red wine can trigger migraines. Three things I haven’t had in a very long time!

Migraine Action says this:

Low doses of tricyclic anti-depressant drugs have been shown to be effective in preventing migraine.

Which would explain why I don’t get migraines anymore! I’m on Paroxetine (much about this one in the news!) which is a tricyclic anti-depressant.

clean sheath

A Clean Sheath Is A Healthy Sheath

Male horses (stallions and geldings) should have their sheaths cleaned periodically by their owners. Why does a horse’s sheath need to be clean? Smegma!

against 4×4s

NOT SAFE, NOT CLEAN, NOT COOLAlliance Against Urban 4x4s.

Join the campaign against the increasing numbers of big 4x4s vehicles on urban streets. 95% of four-wheel drives never leave a tarmac road. Urban 4x4s aren’t fuel efficient, are dangerous and quite frankly stupid for driving in cities when all you do in them is the school run.

Send drivers of urban 4x4s a message they can’t ignore with spoof parking tickets, downloadable from www.wastemonsters.org.uk. Email for a free batch of high-quality printed versions.

hmm trainers of gay interst. I emailed the seller on ebay to ask what about them made them gay:

“Its the person selling the trainers that is gay. cheers.”

Right I’m still no clearer why a gay person would want some trainers that a gay person wore.

mcvomit burger

Hardee’s serves up 1,420-calorie burger

St. Louis-based Hardee’s Food Systems Inc. Monday rolled out its Monster Thickburger — two one-third-pound slabs of Angus beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of cheese and mayonnaise on a buttered sesame seed bun. The sandwich alone sells for $5.49 or $7.09 with a medium fries (520 calories) and soda (about 400 calories).

In an interview on CNBC, Hardee’s chief executive Andrew Puzder was unapologetic, saying the company’s latest sandwich is “not a burger for tree-huggers.”

One Monster Thickburger contains twice the recommended daily allowance of saturated fat, and nearly a full day’s worth of sodium.

best selling books of 2004

This list is the best selling books of 2004 in my opinion (which is very good as I work in a book shop), in no particular order are:

The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynne Truss
Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
You Are What You Eat by Gillian McKeith

My favourite has to be the No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency because it’s so gentle and warm and is like a literary hug. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is another fantastic read and will make you want to stay up all night to finish it.
Lemony Snicket is always popular amongst the children (and me), as is books by Anthony Horrowitz and Jacqueline Wilson.

unsavoury

My coworker went out to the back yard, at work today, to put some rubbish out and lo and behold she finds a big fat turd. It clearly belonged to a human not so long ago. This is not the first time unsavoury items have been found out there. I have discovered a condom and a sanitary towel laying about. Our yard backs out onto a car park which is in the vicinity of two pubs and one bar so I can only conclude its a stopping off point for late night revellers.
