Our son is celebrated his first birthday today. That was the fastest, most sleep deprived but enjoyable year ever!

Here he is wearing his new Lactivist t-shirt which I bought him. We had little party at Pizza Express with his Grandad and Aunty and then back to ours for lots of cake. Not sure what he made of the day. I guess for him it seemed to be filled with lots of things in paper that he was encouraged to rip apart (instead of my usual sighing at another magazine being ripped). He gets to do it all again for in less than fortnight (but this time it won’t be his birthday).
Darwin has done all the normal milestones in average times (I meant to write about him a lot more yet I never got round to it). These days he’s cruising round the furniture but hasn’t quite got to grips with standing without support so until he figures that out he will have to stick to crawling and cruising. He can wave and clap and we are pretty sure that he said dada meaningfully (rather than just random babbling) the other night. Darwin loves riding on his daddy’s shoulders and still enjoys a good nose beep (a sad day for me when that stops). He loves reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Yes. So far Darwin has 8 gnashers. His favourite foods are bread, yoghurt and satsumas. He is still breastfed but has cut his feeds down a fair amount; I have no plans on stopping yet. He’s only ever slept through on 2 unrelated nights so I’ve yet to have a good night’s sleep since early pregnancy. As that’s not uncommon and we aren’t willing to try controlled crying I’ve just had to accept it learn to live with it (fingers crossed if we have another they sleep more).
