domestic bliss

Our new Dyson vacuum cleaner was delivered today. We greatfully received some money to buy one as a wedding present from C’s mum and dad. I decided to whizz round the flat quickly to test it out and I was flabbergasted with what it removed from the carpet. Bearing in mind that I’d already vacuumed on Sunday as we had visitors; this is the minging grub that came out of the carpet:

I don’t think I will ever be able to use another brand of vacuum cleaner again, this Dyson is amazing!

make a christmas winter village

I want to make a glittery Christmas house like this:

snowman-house.jpg
(sorry I don’t know whose this is because I can’t remember where I found this on the internet)

So I dug out the following:
* Martha Stewart has this how to with template
* Craft a mini holiday village
* Carol Duvall’s holiday village how to
* Get inspiration and plans from Little Glitter Houses

I will show you my finished house soon (that’s when I actually begin making it).

us election

I may not be American and therefore unable to vote in today’s elections but I’m all excited about the outcome! I’m an Obama supporter if you didn’t guess. Really, the idea of McCain and Palin running America doesn’t bear thinking about. I just hope there is no chaos at the polls and that it’s free of corruption and confusion.

The bbc says Voters set for historic US poll

In the first voting of the day, Mr Obama defeated his rival by 15 votes to six in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire.

The town, which has a 60-year tradition of being first in the nation to vote, opened its polls at midnight, with turnout of 100%.

George W Bush won there in 2004 on his way to re-election. Tuesday’s vote was the first time the town had gone Democrat since 1968.

Wow 100% turnout is incredible! I like to see people voting regardless of who they vote for; it’s so important to excercise your right of suffrage.

Update- Hah it turns out that in Dixville Notch, 100% of voters equalled 21 people – 15 to Obama and 6 to McCain (which it actually says it in the quote above and now I look silly).

Cast your vote at Iftheworldcouldvote.com. Results so far show that the world clearly wants Obama.
