C and I spent the last four days at his parent’s house in Northamptonshire. Two weeks ago, sadly, his Gran passed away so we were down there to attend her funeral. She was living in a care home but wasn’t ill at the time so it was a shock to the family when they received the news that she’d died. At the end they played “Flower of Scotland” which is a rather moving Scottish bagpipe song.

new job
I have finally got another job which I start tomorrow. Can’t say exactly who I’m working for (for privacy reasons) but let’s just say it’s a high street shop that sells magazines and books.
I had a few hours training on the till last week which consisted of telling me the buttons on the till and letting me loose on the general public. I’m confident enough on tills, though I haven’t used this sort of epos system before. The shop sells cigarettes, which even though I used to smoke, I just can’t understand the slang people use for various brands. One man asked me “pack of purples” which turned out to be Silk Cut. I Hope I don’t make too many mistakes tomorrow!
valentines day chocolate splodge

Here’s the chocolate sauce pudding I made for my Valentine. Really it makes too much for one sitting and it’s VERY rich, possibly making you feel ill afterwards, still delicious though.
recipes for valentine’s day
C and I are making dinner for each other on Valentine’s Day. He’s in charge of the main course and I’m in charge of pudding so I’ve been searching for delicious chocolate recipes.
Real Simple (a really good magazine I didn’t think you could get here in the U.K. but chatiry reliably informs me you can buy it from Borders) have 5-star chocolate dessert recipes.
Then again Green and Blacks has a delcious looking truffle recipe.
In the end I’ve decided to go for sticky chocolate pudding with a hot sauce.

For some reason worpress won’t let me embed the video so you will have to go here, it’s worth it though!
vegan eggplant parmesan
Tonight for dinner I made vegan eggplant parmesan available at fat free vegan. It consists of aubergine (or eggplant if you are crazy American), a delicious yet simple tomato sauce and the yummiest part a vegan cheese sauce. The only extra store cupboard items I had to purchase (apart from the veg) were silken tofu and nutritional yeast flakes. Absolutely delicious and healthy too.
